Tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) is a natural tetrapeptide cleaved from immunoglobulin that activates macrophages. Selank is tuftsin with the same Pro-Gly-Pro tail that Semax carries — Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. The tail is there so the molecule holds up in the blood.
Where it stands clinically — and this is unusual for a peptide. The literature itself says so explicitly: Selank is the active ingredient of a drug that completed phase III clinical trials as a selective anxiolytic 1. In Russia it's marketed as an approved drug.
And now the “but”, because there is one. That phase III isn't published in a journal you can open and read. The phrase “passed phase III” isn't the same thing as “here are the numbers”. We write this because elsewhere you'll only see it as a headline.

Why it's not the same as Semax. Same tail, same research team, same fMRI study — and yet the analysis found both shared and specific effects for each 2. It's not one molecule with two names: one was developed for focus, the other for anxiety.
1 and 3 are in animals. The only human study you can read in full is 2, and it measures brain signal — not an anxiety scale.
