What was measured in humans. 52 healthy participants, with placebo. Resting-state functional MRI three times: before, 5 minutes and 20 minutes after the injection. Differences were found in functional connectivity between the right amygdala and an area of the right temporal cortex — and the analysis separated, for the first time, what Semax does from what Selank does 1.
What this means — and what it doesn't. It means the molecule reaches the brain and does something measurable, fast. It does not mean you'll study better: nobody in this study measured memory, focus or performance. It measured signal.
And the important part you'll rarely see written down. Semax has been marketed in Russia as an approved drug for decades, and almost all of its literature — including the study you just read about — comes from one circle of researchers in Moscow. That doesn't mean it's wrong. It means it hasn't been independently replicated by three labs in three countries, and that's a different thing.
